About This Website
This website, www.cisvuniversity.org, was initially established through a grant from the Foundation for Cross-Cultural Understanding (FCCU) and funds from the CISV USA National Association. The CISV University website assists the CISV USA Leadership Training Committee and CISV USA’s National Office in tracking the registration and training of over 200 youth and adults each year.
About Registering on CISV University
A COMPLETE profile must be established on CISV University website to be able to successfully register for a workshop. Trainees should make special note of their CISV U user name and password in case they want to use the website in the future to register for additional programs.
About National Leadership Training Workshops
Currently five CISV USA National Leadership Training Workshops are offered each spring (March – June) with a sixth one offered each fall during the month of October. The first one offered in the spring is for CISV USA Program Staff and Planners only. All other National Leadership Training Workshops cover all roles.
Every National Leadership Training Workshop is staffed by four to five National Trainers who volunteer their time and expertise in an effort to prepare all CISV USA Program Leaders, Junior Counselors for the Village program, all Program Staff members, Junior Staff members, Program Directors, Program Planners, Seminar Camp Participants, and Local Leadership Trainers.
Chapters are also welcome to send any other Chapter members or volunteers to National Leadership Training Workshops. The current cost for attending a National Leadership Training Workshop is $120 per CISV member/trainee.
About National Leadership Trainers
National Trainers are selected through an application and referral process. Anyone interested in serving CISV USA as a National Trainer can apply online at http://www.cisvuniversity.org. The National Leadership Trainer Application Form and Referral Form are both located by clicking on Application Forms in the sidebar on the left hand of the Home page of the CISV University website. About Training Certification
CISV International requires training certification for all those in leadership positions in CISV programs. Once a trainee has completed a Local Leadership Training Workshop in their own home Chapter, passed an online role-specific Training Readiness Assessment Tool (TRAT), and attended a National Leadership Training Workshop fulltime, a trainee will likely be certified.
All trainees who successfully complete all requirements are presented with business-card-sized certificates. All certifications (except for Program Staff and Program Directors) are good for two years but only in the same role for which the trainee was originally prepared. Certification for those serving as Program Staff members or Program Directors is only good for one year.
About Local Leadership Training
Each CISV USA Chapter is required to provide a Local Leadership Training Workshop for trainees prior to their attendance at a National Leadership Training Workshop. Completing this local phase of the training can facilitate the successful completion of the role-specific Training Readiness Assessment Tool (TRAT). A passing score of 95% or better is required on each TRAT prior to attending a National Leadership Training Workshop.
About Hosting Sites
Serving as a National Leadership Training Hosting Site is a large but rewarding responsibility for our CISV USA Chapters. It requires coordination of participants’ transportation, food, and housing for an intense weekend of work. A detailed job description for a Hosting Site Coordinator is available by contacting the current Chair of the National Leadership Training Committee Chair.
National Leadership Training Hosting Sites and dates are selected every three years. The next Hosting Site Application deadline is June 15, 2011. The National Leadership Training Hosting Site Application Form can be completed online by clicking on Application Forms in the sidebar on the left hand side of the CISV University website Home Page.
